This international list of subscribers to the cause of "the abolition of white and black slavery in Africa" lists donations from most of the royal households of central Europe (including Austria, Prussia, Saxony, Savoy), as well as French aristocrats, British and French admiralty, and knights from chivalric orders such as the Holy Sepulchre and the Order of St Louis. It was drawn up the same year as the British bombardment of Algiers (1816), and is directed primarily against enslavement by the North African Corsairs, a cause embraced by Restoration Europe.
